Karnataka is one of the prime adventure spots with numerous trekking destinations near Bengaluru. The Western Ghats makes Bengaluru and near by places one of the hot trekking places. Nestled in the midst of natural marvels like hills, forests and lakes Bengaluru trekking spots are surely breathtaking places for tourists.

Some of the pristine trekking destinations near Bengaluru are Coorg, Canara, Shimoga, Chkamagalur and Hassan. Rock climbing, trekking and many other water sports are the main attractions of these places.

Trekking places in and around Bengaluru

Savana Durga A colossal monolith of 4050 feet above sea level is located near Magadi and is popularly known as, Savana Durga. The destination is made up of two gigantic hills Biligudda and Karigudda.

This spot is separated by one deep valley which is famous trekking spot with rock climbing circles. At the peak there is a fortress constructed by Kempegowda II. Savana Durga is situated 60 kms from Bengaluru city and 11 kms from Magadi town. There are many comfortable buses from Bengaluru city to Magadi.

Randevara Betta Explore the adventurous rock climbing and trekking in Randevara Betta near Ramnagara town. This trekking spot of Bengaluru is located 60 kms from the city on Mysore road.

It is situated at 3066 feet above sea level and is also known as Revana Siddesh Betta. This is one of the seven prime hilltops located in Karnataka. The most convenient way of reaching Randevara Betta is buses from Ramanagara to Bengaluru city and from there auto rickshaws can be taken.  

Antara Gange Located in the Kolar district of Karnataka state; Antara Gange is one of the most visited trekking spots near Bengaluru. This mountain range is very attractive with underground water sources.

Antara Gange or ‘Ganges from Deep’ is named after the continuous flow of the water sources in a pond by the temple top hill. It is 65 kms from Bengaluru city and 2 miles from the Kolar district. There are numerous buses from Bengaluru city and Majestic to Kolar. From there auto rickshaw can be hired to the hills.

Mekedatu, Karighatta Mekedatu is located in Karighatta on Mysore road which is 98 kms from Bengaluru. It is basically located at Srirangapatna. There is one legendary river that narrows down so much at one point that even a goat can jump and cross it.

Trekking would surely be very interesting along the river side of Kaveri at Sangama. The hill is 2697 feet above sea level and is known as one of the prime adventure spots near Bengaluru. Buses are available from Bengaluru city to Srirangapatna, from where private vehicle and cabs can be hired.

Skandagiri Skandagiri is located near Nandi hills and is also known as Kalwar betta or Kalavarahalli betta. It is approximately 75 kms away from the city and is near Chikkaballapur. Explore the fort established during Tipu Sultan’s era on trekking from Papagni temple. It takes more than 3 hours to reach the peak of hill. Known for its moonlight trekking trips, the Skandagiri hill is one of the incredible places in Karnataka.

The sun rising and sun setting views attract maximum trekkers and photographers to this place. The best time to visit is from November to January. There are number of buses from Bengaluru city to Chikkaballapur. From here private cabs are very convenient.
