IT and BPO in Bengaluru

Bengaluru is also known as the byte basket of India because of the innumerable information technology and Business Process Outsourcing companies located there. Most of the top multinational corporations have either their head quarters or operating wings in Bengaluru.  The STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) which is located at the Electronics City in Bengaluru is said to be the counts oldest Internet Service Providers (ISP). It is apparently the first Internet-enabled center  in India. One of the major causes for the development of the city is due to the IT and BPO in Bengaluru. A large chunk of the country’s population is employed in the IT and BPO’s in Bengaluru

The IT industry in Bengaluru is spread across two major areas namely Electronics City and Whitefield. Most of the top notch IT giants are situated in these two areas mainly. However over the last few years several new clusters have come up due to the increase in the number of IT and BPO’S coming and operating in Bengaluru. The latest IT and BPO clusters that have emerged lately in Bengaluru are in Bellandur and Challaghatta.  

The Electronics City which is one of the important industrial areas in Bengaluru was formed in 1978. It is located in the outskirts of Bengaluru and is spread across 330 acres of land.  It is the proud home of The Software Technology Parks of India which was started in 1991. Some of the top IT giants set in the Electronics City include;   Hewlett Packard, Wipro,  Siemens, 3M and Infosys.  The other major area in Bengaluru which is clustered with IT’s and BPOs is  Whitefield.  This is exactly where the International Technology Park Bengaluru is situated.

Whitefield is the result of a business venture between Singapore and India in the year 1994 . The area covered is huge and is home to seven hi tech   buildings namely;  Discoverer, Creator, Innovator, Navigator Explorer , Inventor and  TCS. Some of the popular companies situated at the Whitefield International Technology Park Bengaluru include Oracle, SAP, TCS, Unisys, Delphi, iGATE, Dell,  Huawei and  Perot Systems.  Shell, Aviva, GM, GE and DaimlerChrysler and Schneider Electric  are also placed in Whitefield.

The Bellandur Outer Ring Road cluster houses Intel, Aricent, Accenture, Symbol, Cadence, Cisco, Nokia, National Instruments, Honeywell, ARM, Cummins, JP MorganChase, Oracle, Logica CMG and i2 Technologies.

The Bagmane Tech Park which is situated in  C. V. Raman Nagar in Bengaluru has the offices of IT and BPO giants like;  Oracle, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Samsung, Dell and Cognizant,  C-DAC and many more.

The Manyata Technology Park which is a SEZ (special economy zone) area in Bengaluru also houses many MNCs like; IBM, Philips, NXP, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia-Siemens, Cognizant Technology Solutions etc.
